Today Dayo is three. Three years, three years… sounds so short, and was his entire lifetime.

He is growing so beautifully, and is sooo funny, and mischievous, affectionate and the joy of my life and my greatest motivator, all I can say is, I can only celebrate his birthday as being the best day of my life.

I love this boy so much, sometimes it frightens me. I seek to better myself and my life, only so I can be fully equipped to guide him through his.

My heart, my greatest love… my darling who turned this queen into joy.

Naughty Boy Getting His Mess On

I left him watching TV for two minutes to go pour a cup of coffee. When I got back, it was all I could do to grab my camera and start shooting. He did not require any moisturising for a few days.

One morning, he decided Ernie needed to have some breakfast too. As Ernie is his special lovvie, it was adorable to watch him organise his friend.

The ceremony was simple and beautiful, and I was glad we waited until my sister and one of Dayo’s godparents Faizah got to Bim to do the job.

The people I chose to help me look out for him over the years, were with one exception present. For most of them, this was there first experience with an traditional African rite, so Faizah made sure to explain each step as she went through the ritual.

I was in tears most of the time.

When it was over, I gave Faizah a hand-made paper wishbox I had created for her, and she loved it.

May everyone’s good wishes take my little King through life.

The boy buss him head. Nasty.

Last night he was in his crib grumbling, not quite ready to fall asleep, but getting there. Most nights I will leave him there, and let him slowly wind down. Some nights I will let him out for another little play to burn off the extra energy.

Last night, I took him for a little tour around the house.

So he was doing his do, running around the room and up and down the corridor. Both Mummy and I were keeping an eye on him, and I literally took my eye off of him for one second and heard a huge THUNK!

  My brother’s band was rehearsing on the verandah a couple Sunday’s ago, and he had a time listening, dancing, and just being in the thick of things.

  The child has another tooth coming out, so he’s gumming everything in sight. I want you to see the musckles in the child arm, oui? He fighting me to suck the little toy hammock and in between I am tickling him. My little He-Man!

  Actually he is singing and talking at the top of his lungs… squealing, shrieking and laughing his head off. He’s such a happy little fella…

  I looked and looked for the right one for him, and I am glad it was this one. It’s the first thing he goes to in the morning, and when he’s riding the naughty chair, you should see him look at it longingly and squirm. Sigh…

  
  

• The window, always in the window!
  

  He is addicted to the window… he macos all the time, screaming at the birds, the neighbours, at any damn thing. The neighbours all hear him, and no doubt his voice concertos pierce at 5am, because he has no respect for anyone else’s timetable but his own of course. Hence, I’ve seen almost every sunrise since the child was born.
